Terms of Service
Last updated: March 4, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the Contraction Timer app ("the App") or visiting contractiontimer.io ("the Website"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our App or Website.
2. Description of the App
Contraction Timer is a pregnancy companion app available on iOS and Android. The App allows you to:
- Track contractions with a one-tap timer (recording start time, duration, and intervals)
- View contraction history, averages, and patterns
- Receive alerts based on the 5-1-1 rule (contractions 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour)
- Detect labor phases (Early, Active, Transition) based on your contraction data
- Track your contractions from your Apple Watch
- Access Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for quick start
- Generate and share contraction reports with your healthcare provider
- Listen to calming audio tracks during labor
- Use breathing exercises, a baby kick counter, a due date calculator, a birth plan builder, a weight tracker, birth affirmations, and preparation checklists
- Read a comprehensive labor guide with information referenced from ACOG and WHO guidelines
3. Not a Medical Device
Contraction Timer is a tracking and informational tool. It is not a medical device, not FDA-approved, and not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The App records user input and calculates averages based on that input. It does not detect contractions automatically via sensors, diagnose labor stages clinically, or make medical recommendations.
The 5-1-1 rule alerts, labor phase detection, and any recommendations displayed in the App are based on generally accepted obstetric guidelines and are provided for informational purposes only. Every pregnancy is unique. These features are not a replacement for the judgment of your doctor, midwife, or healthcare provider.
Always consult your healthcare provider about your labor and delivery. Do not rely solely on any app to make decisions about when to go to the hospital. If something feels wrong, contact your provider or emergency services immediately.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
5. Free Features & Premium Features
The core contraction timer, contraction history, 5-1-1 alerts, labor phase detection, contraction reports, the labor guide, and one free audio track are available at no cost, with no limitations. The App does not contain advertisements of any kind.
Premium features (additional audio tracks, audio downloads for offline use, and selected tools) require an active subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Premium access does not affect the core timing functionality — you will always be able to track contractions for free.
6. Use at Your Own Risk
You use Contraction Timer at your own risk. We provide the App and Website "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that contraction calculations will be accurate in all circumstances.
7. Data and Privacy
All data you enter in the App (contractions, kick counts, weight, birth plan, checklists) is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal or health data to any server. If you delete the App, all your data is permanently deleted. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Audio Content
The App provides access to audio tracks (instrumental music and breathing guides) hosted on our servers. These tracks are streamed over the internet. Premium users may download tracks for offline listening. All audio content is owned by ContractionTimer.io and is licensed for personal use only. You may not redistribute, sell, or use the audio tracks for commercial purposes.
9. Subscriptions & Payments
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are managed securely through Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store any payment card information. We only receive anonymous transaction confirmations from Apple (no payment details, no card numbers, no billing addresses). All billing is processed by Apple according to their standard terms:
Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA)
Current subscription options:
- Weekly Plan — Billed weekly. Auto-renews until cancelled.
- Lifetime Purchase — One-time payment. Permanent access to all premium features.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on the Website and in the App, including text, design, user interface, audio tracks, illustrations, and code, is owned by ContractionTimer.io. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any content without written permission.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ContractionTimer.io and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the App or Website, including but not limited to medical outcomes, missed notifications, inaccurate data, or reliance on labor phase detection or 5-1-1 alerts.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ContractionTimer.io and its creators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or Website, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and Romania, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Romania.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App or Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
